چکیده

Ragweed pollinosis is well documented in both the United States and Europe with 26.2% of an American sample population shown to give positive skin prick test reactions to short Ragweed pollen [1]. The clinical manifestations of this sensitisation can be commonly shown as rhinitis, rhinoconjunctivitis and in severe cases allergic asthma. The benefits of specific immunotherapy for the treatment of rhinoconjunctivitis compared to symptomatic treatment has been demonstrated clinically and offers sustained effects and a decreased risk of developing the more severe allergic asthma [2, 3]. Treatment of pollinosis with allergoids absorbed to MCT ® has been shown to be safe and efficacious, both with and without the adjuvant MPL ® [4]. The immunogenicity study described in this paper further characterises the efficacy of these allergoids absorbed to MCT ®

Microcrystalline Tyrosine (MCT®): A Depot Adjuvant in Licensed Allergy Immunotherapy Offers New Opportunities in Malaria

Microcrystalline Tyrosine (MCT®) is a widely used proprietary depot excipient in specific immunotherapy for allergy. In the current study we assessed the potential of MCT to serve as an adjuvant in the development of a vaccine against malaria. To this end, we formulated the circumsporozoite protein (CSP) of P. vivax in MCT and compared the induced immune responses to CSP formulated in PBS or Al...

Virus-Like Particle (VLP) Plus Microcrystalline Tyrosine (MCT) Adjuvants Enhance Vaccine Efficacy Improving T and B Cell Immunogenicity and Protection against Plasmodium berghei/vivax

Vaccination is the most effective prophylactic tool against infectious diseases. Despite continued efforts to control malaria, the disease still generally represents a significant unmet medical need. Microcrystalline tyrosine (MCT) is a well described depot used in licensed allergy immunotherapy products and in clinical development. However, its proof of concept in prophylactic vaccines has onl...

Comparison of a novel microcrystalline tyrosine adjuvant with aluminium hydroxide for enhancing vaccination against seasonal influenza

BACKGROUND Vaccination against seasonal influenza strains is recommended for "high risk" patient groups such as infants, elderly and those with respiratory or circulatory diseases. However, efficacy of the trivalent influenza vaccine (TIV) is poor in many cases and in the event of an influenza pandemic, mono-valent vaccines have been rapidly developed and deployed. One of the main issues with u...

Study and Electrochemical Determination of Tyrosine at Graphene Nanosheets Composite Film Modified Glassy Carbon Electrode

A graphene nanosheets (GNS) film coated glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was fabricated for sensitive determination of tyrosine (Tyr). The GNS-based sensor was characterized by scanning electron microscope and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The voltammetric techniques were employed to study electro-oxidation of Tyr. The results revealed that the modified electrode showed an electrocatalyt...

Simultaneous Voltammetric Measurement of Ascorbic Acid, Epinephrine, Uric Acid and Tyrosine at a Glassy Carbon Electrode Modified with Nanozeolite-Multiwall Carbon Nanotube

In this study, incorporation of iron ion-doped natrolite nanozeolite, multi-wall carbon nanotubes into chitosan-coated glassy carbon electrode for the simultaneous determination of ascorbic acid, epinephrine, uric acid and tyrosine is studied. The results show that the combination of multi-wall carbon nanotubes and iron ion-doped natrolite zeolite causes a dramatic enhancement in the sensitivit...
